When I was 10, my Granma gave me a Box Brownie Camera. As a youngster, I took pictures of everything, but the cost of processing the film soon crept up, and my enthusiasm waned a little. Over the years, I have had many different pocket cameras, and I enjoyed using them as I roamed the globe.
However, my first camera was a Mamiya 500 SLR, which I bought in 1970. I took thousands of images, honing my skill set because, for every 100 photographs, one was bound to be better than the others.
Eventually, I progressed into digital photography by buying the Nikon D80, and since then, I have had a succession of Nikon cameras. It only changed when I discovered the iPad Pro, given to me by my brother Paul and his lovely wife, Suzanne, in 2016. It was a revelation indeed. I tried other SLRSs, including a Fuji X10, but the ease of using the iPad allowed me to create quality images in post-processing software. I use Luminar Neo and AI, which is easier than Photoshop for me. As for DSLR’S, I still use a Nikon, Fuji, but prefer my iPad Pro, upgraded recently in 2024.
Photography is still fun for me. For the past twenty years, my wife has joined me in taking some beautiful images, and each of us sees the same image in an entirely different way. We try to capture interesting images. Some of these are shown on the website that my friend Paul Masterson created for us.
